GNOC NETWORK ESCALATION ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Microsoft IT Service Management Division is looking for Network Escalation Engineer with over 6 years of experience in the world of Network implementation and operations. Suitable candidate will be responsible to manage multi technology networks consisting of world’s largest corporate wireless infrastructure, complex Extranet & Datacenter deployments spanned across more than 400+ locations worldwide.
You will be part of the Global Network Operations Escalation team and will be the go to person to handle challenging network escalations in an extremely critical environment.
Job responsibilities
· You will be the escalation contact for the Tier 0 and Tier 1 teams to provide solutions for complex network issues.
· You will demonstrate end to end ownership of the incidents and provide process and technical leadership to the team.
· Will be responsible to drive major and critical incidents and be the interface for the Customers and the Management.
· Will be responsible to manage and enrich Customers experience and improve the Customer satisfaction.
· Identify the areas where operational improvements can be made which could lead to cost or man hour’s savings, efficient operations and increased Customer satisfaction.
· Will be responsible for technical documentation and impart trainings on a regular basis.
· Collaborate with other SMFs (Service Management Functions) like Problem, Change and Release Management teams drive process improvements.
· Provide escalation support and assistance to Global Change Operations teams.
· This job requires working in 24x7 NOC operations.
· Required to provide “On call” support over the weekends whenever desired.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Minimum 6 years of experience in the IT industry with at least 4 years of specialized experience in network deployment and management.
· Should be well versed with the routing protocols like BGP, OSPF and EIGRP etc.
· Excellent working knowledge in switching technologies like STP, VTP, VLAN etc.
· Excellent knowledge of transport technologies like ATM, MPLS, Frame Relay, Packet Over Sonet (POS).
· Capability to sniff and analyze packet captures and protocol analysis.
· Extensive operational experience with Cisco routers and switches.
· Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, GRE, IPSec, POS, PPP, HSRP, and SNMP protocols.
· Working knowledge of HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, FTP, SMTP, Streaming Media
· CCNP certification or higher
· Strong process knowledge of Incident and Problem management functions.
Preferred:
· BA/BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
· ITIL Foundation Certification.
· CCIP or CCIE certification.
· Load balancing experience with F5 or similar products.
· Experience working within the NOC environment.
Desirable:
· Understanding of server and telephony infrastructure and technologies.
