This position is for a Network Engineer to support worldwide MSIT network engineering within Network Design, Deployment and Services in the Infrastructure Collaboration Services organization.
The individual in this role will be responsible for supporting MSIT’s infrastructure, with a focus on the supporting MSIT core infrastructure which includes supporting environment that comprises of Cisco network and equipment along with Aruba gear. This person must have solid routing and switching skills along with good understanding of firewalls. This individual will be part of a team responsible for Tier III escalation for network issues, network trend analysis, process improvement, release documentation, training Tier II and providing proactive network remediation. The role also includes support for standards development and problem management. This role requires collaboration with architecture, engineering and implementation teams to deliver new hardware, services and network technologies. Ability to automate/script network deployments a plus.
Core fundamental aspects of the position:
Taking Tier 3 escalations and working break fix incidents
Network Trend Analysis
Proactive Network Remediation
Collaboration with Network Engineering and Architecture for release of new technologies
Writing Troubleshooting guides and training Tier 2 on various networking technologies
Perform Network traffic analysis
Maintaining network compliance with SOX/PCI requirements as well as auditing the network for adherence to engineering standards
Qualifications:
A BS degree in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience) and a minimum of 4 years demonstrated and relevant work in field
Minimum 4 years direct experience with Cisco switches and routers
Strong technical knowledge of enterprise networking solutions for very large environments
Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in enterprise environments
Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
Familiar with MPLS
Knowledge of Firewall technologies
Knowledge of load balancing technologies
Excellent knowledge of layer 4-7
Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocols including SNMP, RMON, IPSEC, HTTP, and HTTPS
Excellent verbal communications and writing skills
Ability to provide mentorship to technical Implementation and Operations teams
Experience with Network Management procedures and tools
Thorough knowledge of layers 1 through 7 with associated equipment and media: Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, 10GigE HSSI, V.35, digital transmission system, switching equipment, circuit termination equipment, routing, load balancing and optimization technologies.
