Incident Management (Server Operations) team in Microsoft is a level 2 support function and is responsible for the 24x7 operations and support for the Microsoft’s core infrastructure deployed globally in MS IT data centers.

Promote customer confidence through consistent and high quality technical solutions to restore the service. Server Operations Analyst is responsible for all the break/fix type of activities to ensure the server infrastructure is up and running smooth. This team handles the complex incident resolution which included server configuration issues, resolve difficult Win 2K3 Operating System problems, and capitalize on their passion for the latest technologies from established MS products to new alpha/beta Microsoft products.

1. Roles and Responsibilities
- Customer “First” – To be able to promote customer confidence through high quality technical solutions to restore the service and provide timely communication / updates.
- Service restoration should be the primary objective.
- Work within the defined SLA’s to restore the service and should be able to make judgment on when to escalate.
- Provide escalation support for all complex/major incidents and drive towards resolution and share knowledge with the other groups in the organization.
- Ability to identify the non-standards in the environment and escalate issues to the appropriate team/ service owners.
- Work across multiple groups/geographies and be able to build solid relationships.
- Promotes proactive and cooperative relationships with other operations analysts, implementation teams, tier 3 groups, infrastructure system managers, as well as IT managers and MS development team members.
- Exercises good judgment within generally defined practices and policies when determining the appropriate solutions.
- Must be able to effectively communicate technical and business problems to the upper management.
- Responsible for special functions/projects as directed by management.
